Nepenthe Studios offer Audio Recording, Video Recording, Photographic Services & Rehearsal Rooms in a multi-format studio
Background - Nepenthe Recording Studios Ltd was incorporated as a limited company and started trading in 2006. The studio is located in the village of Kings Cliffe, in Northamptonshire, a few miles to the west of Peterborough. It is a family run business with a professional outlook. In 2012, the business expanded into the adjoining unit which provides space for the dedicated rehearsal room and photographic studio with dressing room, additional to the live recording room.
Producer and leading technician at Nepenthe, Spike has a solid background in music and music technology, composes music and plays a wide variety of instruments, and is conversant with current sound recording techniques and technologies. He is a skilled photographer.
Recording - once your Music or Voice has been recorded live within the studio, or on location if that is more convenient, it will be mastered and enhanced as required to produce a more refined and finished work, either as CD-audio, MP3, or other format, to your request. Editing, mastering and post-production work will be carried out by Spike himself, creating a unique and distinctive product. Recorded tracks/performances can be video recorded.
Rehearsal - both the Rehearsal Room and live recording room can be booked for rehearsals, with the Rehearsal Room being ideal for live recordings or video.
Photographic - the studio can be booked for photoshoots by models or photographers, whether professional or amateur. Sessions can also be run with Spike as your photographer. This is ideal for family or promotional images. Videos are recorded either in the studio or on location, for corporate projects or music videos.
Environment - our Studio and Control Rooms are equipped with up-to-date audio technology. Spacious and fully air conditioned, the live room is a sound treated space of over 30 sq m, with a slanted ceiling for best effect, with direct communication with the control room. The new Rehearsal Room is also fully air-conditioned, and features a built-in stage, drum stage, PA and lighting, providing a realistic venue for rehearsal.
The photographic studio also benefits from air-conditioning, offers backdrops, lighting and other equipment, and a personal dressing room is available.
Some instruments are available for hire within the studio, in particular an extensive drum kit, but feel free to bring your own musical equipment.
Refreshments are available in our Reception Area - tea (including herbal), coffee, chilled water - or you are welcome to bring your own. In the village, Kings Cliffe has a local pub and shops which can provide you with other refreshments.
We accept cash or card payments either in person, or over the phone, as well as direct bank transfers, but for cheque payments we'll ask for proof of address.
Location - The studio was created for NRS in an industrial unit on the outskirts of the village of Kings Cliffe in Northamptonshire. Located off the A47, it is especially convenient for Peterborough, Stamford, Oakham and Corby, and for locations from Kettering to Leicester, from Grantham to Cambridge. The studio is also a cost-effective alternative to London recording studios, being an hour's drive up the A1.
Nepenthe Recording Studios are a Rockschool examination centre.
